Winter Maintenance

MidLink M7M8 Ltd is responsible for Winter Maintenance activities including both Precautionary and Reactive salt treatment on the M7M8 Motorway PPP Scheme. The 41Km Motorway extends from the M7 Portlaoise Bypass (Junction 18) to the M7M8 Interchange (Junction 19/1). The M7 then continues west to terminate south of Borris in Ossory (Junction 21). The M8 continues south from the M7M8 interchange to a point 8Km past Rathdowney Junction (Junction 3). The Scheme Consist of:

• 41km of motorway in each Direction
• Junction 18 (Portlaoise) – M7
• Junction 19 (M7M8 Motorway to Motorway Interchange)
• Junction 3 (Rathdowney) – M8
• Junction 21 (Borris In Ossory) – M7

It is the responsibility of MidLink M7M8 Ltd to provide winter maintenance service for the 2022/2023 season and to ensure the safe movement of traffic for road users and the public on the Project Road and keep to a minimum delays caused by adverse weather.

A Winter Maintenance Procedure and Strategy for 2022/2023 sets out the arrangements for all aspects of winter maintenance. The winter maintenance season operates from the 1st October to 15th May each year.
